- If not installed correctly the holes in the post may not be in the correct place, meaning that the post will not be supported correctly.
- They are quite heavy, therefore are harder to move around and transport.
- Harder to store as they take up a lot of space.
- They vary in cost but tend to be more expensive than metal spurs due to the size variations.

Metal repair spurs
A much newer product to the market metal repair spurs are increasing in popularity due to there lighter weight and ease of fitting.
Advantages:
- They are much lighter, making it easier to transport and move around.
- Metal repair spurs are just as strong and can also take heavy loads.
- They can flex when absorbing a load, this helps to prevent further damages from occurring.
- Takes up less space, making it easier to store them.
- It is easy to instal them as they have a seamline profile, making it easy to dig smaller holes and to secure them. You also have flexibility when fixing them to the post as there are varied fixing holes.
- They have a more appealing appearance.
Disadvantages:
- They are only available in one size, therefore may not suit what you are looking for.

Overall both concrete and metal repair spurs are great options for the job of repairing fence posts, both with similar strengths and durability.
